There's a lot for Jonathan Aspropotamitis to remember on Saturday afternoon when he faces his former club, Western Sydney Wanderers, for the first time. Already, he's been reminding himself not to accidentally walk into the home dressing room he was a part of four years. He has to put aside the friendships he still has with rival players, staff, coaches and fans for 90 minutes and on top of all that, he's had to keep explaining to his relatives why their reserved car park spaces at Spotless Stadium are no longer there.

It's been seven months since the 22-year-old defender made the switch from Western Sydney to Central Coast Mariners but his family is still slow to come to terms with his move. For Aspropotamitis, his deep connections with the Wanderers weren't solely down to his own history, progressing from their youth team to senior squad and making more than 40 appearances but that his family had become part of the furniture at Western Sydney.

"It will be interesting tomorrow," he said. " My old man still walks around everywhere there, he meets half the people at the club, he sees them all."

While Aspropotamitis gradually worked his way from an 18-year-old youth team player to an established regular in their A-League squad, his family grew into the broader community around the club, in particular, his father Paul.
