We are pleased to announce the appointment of two industry leaders, Jordan Lee and Andy Hu, who will head up the new Asia Markets team, based in the Sydney Office.
Jordan Lee joins after eight years at Colliers International working across the Asia markets/investment services.
Andy Hu joins after six years at Knight Frank working across Asia markets and commercial sales. Prior to this, he spent almost four years at Drake Property.
Both Jordan and Andy will be Joint State Directors, focusing on the sub $100 million market, connecting Asian Capital with Australian assets and both speak Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
Kelly Li will also be joining Andy and Jordan, having worked closely with Andy for four years at Knight Frank as a data analyst and Personal Assistant. Kelly is fluent in Cantonese, English, Japanese and Mandarin and has been appointed Executive Assistant and will be in charge of the daily operation of the team.
According to Real Capital Analytics, Savills dominated the commercial property market in 2018, concluding 5 of the Top 10 office building disposals across Asia Pacific, with the other half being direct transactions.
According to Paul Craig, CEO, Savills Australia and New Zealand, “These transactions highlight our unparalleled access to capital across the region, providing maximum exposure for our clients who have continued high levels of equity in the market.
“Savills is well and truly embedded within the Asia Pacific region, our major strength being that we have rooted local teams who have long standing relationships with investors and intermediaries giving us unrivalled access to private capital that no other agency can match.
“The appointment of Jordan and Andy is the next step in further strengthening our offering, as our clients receive focus from every single region. We pride ourselves on our ability to reach far corners of the globe that many of our competitors cannot,” continued Mr Craig.
Jordan and Andy have previously worked together as joint agents on a number of significant Sydney CBD transactions and said it was a natural progression to join forces.
Mr Lee said “The synergy between Andy and I has been positive from the first day we met, despite being at competing agencies, which is why we both knew we would work well together. We are excited to join the Savills brand.
“Savills was independently ranked No. 1 throughout Asia Pacific for office transactions in 2018 with a 24% market share, while Savills Hong Kong has transacted in excess of 74% of all office transactions in 2018 and is clearly the dominate provider in the region” Mr Lee added.
Mr Hu said “This is an exciting venture for us both and we look forward to working closely with the Capital Transactions, Metro Sales and Residential Site Sales divisions as we close the gap between Asian buyers and the Australian market.”
On top of agencies located within each key market, Savills also has a Regional Investment Advisory (RIA) Team which consists of 21 members across 15 geographies and its sole purpose is to assist Savills agency teams ensuring inter-country/region connectivity, seamless distribution of product, continuous new investor penetration and real time buyer mandate feedback. This team is an added layer of coordination and service who act in parallel with the agency teams to ensure absolute and thorough coverage of all potential investors.
The team is headed by Frank Marriot (Hong Kong) and Callum Young (Singapore) with members in Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Shanghai, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Macau, Middle East and London. Australia is represented by Ben Azar and Jacey Lee and the team meets on a weekly basis via video conference.
In 2018, Savills held a 32% market share in Sydney, transacting over $1.2 billion of office investments (since January 2018) and has more than $5 billion worth of transactions across both the Sydney CBD and suburban markets.
