1. Trump’s throwing big claims around, again. US President Donald Trump has warned of a massive market crash if he is not re-elected in 2020, despite no evidence to suggest this is possible. Leading economists however, warn that more trade disputes could threaten economic gains even before the 2020 Presidential Election.

2. Hong Kong Chief Executive apologises. Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam issued an apology following massive protests in the territory. The demonstrations, which blanketed the country in ‘a sea of black’, have been held over the past week to protest against a proposed law that would allow extradition of residents to mainland China. The protestors have also been calling for government leaders to resign.

3. Adani mine approved. After eight years, the Adani coalmine in Queensland has received its final environmental approval, effectively gaining the green light to begin operations. While this was exciting news for workers, the exact number of jobs it will provide remains unclear.

4. Blackouts across South America. Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay were affected by massive blackouts at 7am local time on Sunday, which left millions of people without power. The electricity began being restored five hours later, with Argentina’s energy agency investigating the cause of the blackout.

5. Government data has found that Australia’s Emissions Reduction Fund is failing to deliver on its plan to reduce emissions. ABC News’ analysis has also found that the emission reduction program has not spent its existing budget.

6. Prince Harry celebrates his first Father’s Day as a dad. The Duke and Suchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, have shared a new photo of their son Archie in celebration of Father’s Day in the US and UK on Sunday. Prince William also shared some happy snaps to mark the day.

7. Mascot Towers owners to pay repair fees. The owners of the 10-storey Mascot Towers development in Sydney, which was evacuated on Friday due to structural damage, are set to pay the repair bill.

8. Former Wallabies fullback Israel Folau has defended his beliefs about gay and transgender people. During his Sunday sermon at the Truth of Jesus Christ Church in Kenthurst, Folau said, “They say that a man and a man should be able to be married and there is nothing wrong with it. This buys into the theme of pleasing man rather than pleasing God and standing up for the truth.”

9. The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris held its first service since the fire that ravaged the building two months ago. The small congregation even wore hard hats during the ceremony.

10. US rejects Manus and Nauru refugees. The United States has rejected more than 300 refugees from Australia’s offshore processing centres on Manus Island and Nauru under the Australia-US refugee deal. Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton claimed due to the amount of people being rejected, the target of resettling 1250 refugees may not be met. Under the agreement, Australia would reportedly accept Central American refugees in exchange for those in Australian offshore processing centres.

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has been developing this self-driving ship, which requires no crew or captain. Nicknamed the ‘Sea Hunter’, the ship is able to track enemy submarines, however, it is not weaponised.
