1. Bill Gates’ ‘greatest mistake’. Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates said his “greatest mistake ever” was allowing Google to develop Android and not creating a successful smartphone operating system himself.

2. Israel Folau’s GoFundMe page is shut down. The former rugby player’s GoFundMe page, which called for donations to support his legal battle with Rugby Australia, has been shut down. GoFundMe Australia said the campaign “violates our terms of service” relating to LGBTIQ+ discrimination and will issue full refunds to donors.

3. Facebook’s cryptocurrency is causing a stir online. Cryptocurrency traders and financial commentators are divided by news that Facebook plans to launch its own digital currency. One group argues that it will introduce the mainstream to cryptocurrency, while others believe it will hinder the adoption of ‘true’ cryptocurrencies.

4. SpaceX is about to launch its third-ever Falcon Heavy rocket – the world’s most powerful operational launch system – at around 1.30 p.m. AEST on Tuesday. Elon Musk said it “will be our most difficult launch ever” as the rocket-engine will need to be fired multiple times across six hours. Here’s how to watch it live.

5. A larger MacBook Pro? Apple is reportedly planning to release a new 16-inch MacBook Pro in September. It would be the largest laptop Apple has sold in eight years. Apple is also testing its new credit card among Apple Store employees and this is what it could look like.

6. Kogan heads into energy.Online retailer Kogan is partnering with Powershop Australia to provide power and gas services to Australians under the name Kogan Energy.

7. British foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt has called his Conservative leadership rival Boris Johnson a “coward” for refusing to agree to a live TV debate with him this week. It comes as Johnson faces mounting pressure to address a row with his girlfriend which resulted in police being called.

8. Alibaba wants to work closely with Australian businesses. The retail giant, which has been in the country for three years, isn’t interested in attracting Australian consumers, instead it wants to help Australian businesses “access the China market”.

9. Hyundai brings its luxury brand to Australia. Hyundai’s luxury vehicle brand Genesis has launched in Australia, with the G70 and G80 available from the company’s new studio in Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall.

10. Warner Bros. announced BBC Studios Americas president Ann Sarnoff as its new CEO, becoming the first woman to lead the studio. Fans quickly pleaded for her to release Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice league after he left production of the film.
