As Japanese drums beat persistently in the background, US President Donald Trump joined fellow G20 leaders at the Osaka Castle on Friday evening for a summit dinner.

Trump, who was the last leader to arrive at the event, more than an hour behind schedule, walked alongside his Japanese host Shinzo Abe and pointed to something in the distance as he assembled for a group photo.

(Other leaders were seen arriving in the moments before Trump arrived, so it does not appear as if Trump himself held up the dinner on his own).

As the leaders gathered, Trump was seen chatting to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French president.

The leaders and their spouses waved for a photo with the glowing Osaka Castle in the background before returning back inside for a traditional Japanese performance.

On stage, a man wearing a purple robe and tall black hat performed a type of dance as men sat nearby playing drums and flutes and chanting.

Later, a pianist performed for the leaders.

Cameras didn’t catch Trump’s reaction during the performance.
