IT’S one thing to buy a blank canvas, but another to buy a half-finished attempt at building a luxury house.

A $1.66 million price tag has been assigned for the lot.

Overseas commitments meant the current owners were unable to finished building the new residence.

Its design featured six bedrooms, two ensuites, two bathrooms and two powder rooms as well as luxury additions such as a wine cellar, home theatre, pool and gym.

It was designed to have high energy efficient standards with solar and also offers impressive views of the Gold Coast skyline across a 715sq m floorplan.

This completed house is also part of the package.

The owners could live in it while completing the other house.

“The current owners are unable to finish construction themselves, this provides a unique opportunity for new owners to select their own fixtures and finishes and make any other required adjustments to the home before it is finished,” the marketing said.

It’s difficult to calculate the cost of building a home, however in June 2018, the Australian average was $1270.80 per sqm, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

This figure does not include a design, planning permit, site works and unexpected costs.

At this figure, if the house was at the halfway mark it would cost less than $500,000 to complete.

However, architecturally-designed properties at the higher end of the market can blow out to the millions.
