Reid approached Felix as he was close to his father's body, and the grieving son said to the driver: "What the f--- did you do?"

Reid replied: "Excuse me, c---?"

Felix Kostiuk: "You killed my f---ing dad."

Reid, 21, drank beer and smoked ice with friends before getting behind the wheel of his Holden Commodore station wagon and racing towards Melbourne to meet his newborn son that day.

Video footage filmed inside the Commodore that day at one point shows Reid holding his mobile phone while his 16-year-old friend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is behind the wheel.

Reid says: "When you're too f---ed to drive and your baby has been born and your mate comes through."

In other recordings, Reid is filmed driving as his younger friend urges him to go faster. The 16-year-old also filmed the car's speedometer, which at one point was close to 200km/h.

Reid, who had spent the previous night with his mother in Merimbula, admitted that his friend regularly blew into the interlock device on the Commodore so it would start.

Other participants in the memorial ride remember seeing Reid's car slide across the road in the seconds before the crash.

Senior Sergeant Kostiuk and his son tried to swerve around the Commodore, but the senior policeman couldn't get out of the way. The 59-year-old police veteran was hit by the car at 91km/h and thrown from his motorcycle.

Senior Sergeant Kostiuk was a police officer of almost 40 years service and at the time of the crash was in charge of the family violence unit at Frankston.

Reid was arrested at the scene and taken into custody and later pleaded guilty to culpable driving causing death and two counts of reckless conduct endangering life, related to the other road users
whose lives he put at risk.

His plea hearing continues.
