Yarra Trams has presented members with two new enterprise bargaining agreements which have been rejected by union members in recent months.

A major sticking point is the company's plan to remove a requirement that part-time staff work for a minimum of seven hours a shift.

Yarra Trams wants to lift a cap on the number of part-time workers on the network from 4 per cent to 15 per cent.

Rail, Tram and Bus Union state secretary Luba Grigorovitch said the company was trying to flood depots with part-time workers.

"These bans, which are a first step in our industrial campaign, will put pressure on Yarra Trams to manage rosters and other administrative tasks," Ms Grigorovitch said.

“Yarra Trams have ridden the wave of members’ goodwill for too long, now is high time for management to respect the hard work and dedication of their employees."

In its separate pay dispute with Metro Trains, the union has called off plans to refuse to check mykis and ban uniforms next Monday citing "constructive conversations" with the company over the weekend.

It follows a successful injunction sought by Metro Trains in the Federal Court to stop workers from keeping ticket barriers open on both days.
