The diploma course will be offered at Endeavour College’s six campuses this year. It takes one year to complete full-time, or two years part-time.

Students gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience, including all the skills they need to become a qualified remedial massage therapist. The course covers client assessment and relaxation massage to anatomy and physiology, injury prevention and management, as well as how to run a massage business.

“One new aspect of the course focuses on tech neck and iPhone body to train up the next generation of practitioners with the ability to treat health problems caused by over-use of technology and poor posture,” Turri says.

Career opportunities available to qualified remedial massage therapists include working at health retreats and spas, providing massage services to elite athletes, working in corporate health and starting up a private practice. Turri says many massage therapists maintain a good work/life balance as they can choose their own hours and work as much or as little as they need.

As a teacher and health professional, Turri says he loves helping people. Through teaching, he aims to inspire his students to get the best possible results with their clients, enabling them to work in a profession they love.

“There isn’t anything better than waking up each day excited about having the opportunity to inspire others,” he says. “The best part of the job is seeing my students become amazing practitioners.”
