1. Protesters barricaded roads and disrupted trains to and from the Hong Kong International Airport. Saturday marked 13 weeks since the protests began and it’s the second time protesters have targeted the transportation hub.

2. Amazon blazes still rage. Nearly 2,000 fires have reportedly broken out in the South American rainforest in the past 48 hours despite a fire ban by the Brazilian government.

3. Australian home sales have been slipping for the past 12 months. The latest figures from the Housing Industry Association (HIA) found a 12.8% drop in home sales in Australia.

4. Hurricane Dorian strikes the Bahamas. Hurricane Dorian strengthened to a Category 5 storm on Sunday with videos and pictures posted to social media showing the massive rains, winds and flooding pummelling the Abaco Islands.

5. The US’s 15% tariff on Chinese imports comes into effect. The tariffs went into effect on Sunday, impacting products such as the Apple Watch and Airpods.

6. Dad’s wisdom. To celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday, we asked 15 Aussie founders and executives to share the best piece of advice they ever received from a father figure.

7. UK MPs opposed to a no-deal Brexit will attempt to pass a law to stop it, the ABC reported. However, a senior UK minister refused to guarantee that the government would agree to any legislation of the kind.

8. Australia defeats Canada in the Basketball World Cup opening match. The Boomers beat Canada 108-92 in the game on Sunday, the ABC reported.

9. Pope Francis gets stuck in an elevator. Pope Francis arrived late to his weekly Sunday address in St. Peter’s Square, telling the crowd he was stuck in an elevator for 25 minutes before being freed by firemen.

10. Uber rides can be booked without a smartphone in Canada. The ride-hailing giant rolled out a kiosk at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport that allows passengers to book a ride without a smartphone.
