Rep. Tom Cole, the ranking member on the House Rules Committee, is now asking Rep. Jamie Raskin, a representative of the House Judiciary Committee, questions.

Cole noted that many of the questions were designed for Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler, who was supposed to be at today's hearing, but is absent because of a family emergency.

"A number of my questions have been crafted, or were originally crafted for chairman Nadler. You may or may not be able to answer those directly," Cole told Raskin. "We certainly understand why he's not here, and as the chairman said, we sympathize with him in a difficult time, but we still think they're important for the record."

Earlier today, in his opening statement, Raskin noted that both the Judiciary and Rules Committees sent "strength, love, and prayers to chairman Nadler’s wife, Joyce, and all of our hopes for a speedy recovery.”

Nadler is expected to be back tomorrow, when the full House is likely to vote on the articles of impeachment.
