The joint project between the departments of customer service and education was trialled in six schools between April and August last year, and expanded to 14 more schools in November.

Ninety per cent of parents who participated in the pilot, which saw 508 enrolments submitted at schools including Cherrybrook, Castle Hill, Bankstown and Baulkham Hills North, said they would recommend it. Future rollout of the scheme will be subject to parent and staff feedback.

Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said school staff saw processing time reduce by up to 40 minutes per enrolment application.

"A considerable saving for both parents and schools is the reduced back and forth often required to seek additional information or clarify details," she said. "The form will also free up staff from labour intensive hand processing of enrolment forms."
