"We've been there but it's always been on festival bills ... so when we talked about doing more dates we said, ‘You know what, we really should do Australia for real’."

Tickets for the May all-ages tour go on sale on Wednesday, February 12, and the band will play in Auckland and Christchurch before its first Australian show at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on May 13. After Brisbane the tour will go to Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney, on May 15; Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, on May 16; Adelaide Entertainment Centre on May 18; and RAC Arena , Perth, on May 20.

"Faith No More has taken many twists and turns over the years and both Australia and New Zealand have been with us every step of the way," said bass player and founding member Bill Gould. "This is something that we have always appreciated."

Faith No More burst onto the international music scene with 1989 album The Real Thing (the first featuring Mike Patton on vocals), coming four years after the band's debut album We Care A Lot. In the years since Angel Dust (1992), King For a Day... Fool For a Lifetime (1995), Album of the Year (1997) and Sol Invictus (2015) have kept the band at the cutting edge, both as recording artists and live performers, despite a decade-long hiatus in the late '90s.

Melbourne band RVG will support Faith No More on all Australian dates.

Frontier Members can purchase Faith No More pre-sale tickets on Monday, February 10, from frontiertouring.com/faithnomore. General tickets sales open on Ticketek from midday on Wednesday, February 12.
