Speaking on the eve of their second match in four days – a clash with Brisbane Roar on Wednesday night – Brebner confirmed that while the club would be looking to sign a top goalkeeper for next season, for now Victory were content to rely on Acton and Sutton.

"This short time-frame we won't be looking at bringing anyone in. We will trust our two goalies to get us through this period.

"Matty will take the gloves and Matthew Sutton [will be back up]. He is a fantastic goalkeeper and came through the youth team ranks with me," said Brebner, who coached the latter when he was in charge of Victory's youngsters.

"If I had to use him, as I have shown with other players, I wouldn't hesitate to throw a youngster in there and he would handle it very well.

"We are still OK. Hopefully don't get any injuries and we are still reasonably covered in the goalkeeping department. But we will be looking to recruit next year."

Brebner gave youngsters Aaron Anderson, Birkan Kirdar and Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio significant game time on Saturday and he will also look to give more kids a chance against Brisbane.

"There will be two changes tomorrow night, another two who come in from the bench.

"But I have got to stress that I am not just going to play kids to get plaudits. I don't want anyone to think it's the easy option to just play kids. If there is a senior player who deserves to play then they will play.

"But if the youngsters are showing that they want to train better and work harder and their enthusiasm and desire [is there] then they will play."
