Good morning.

1. It’s a doughnut day. Victoria recorded no new cases of COVID-19, right as the state leaves its fourth lockdown. Some fairly tough restrictions still apply, of course – including a 25-kilometre travel bubble around the home.

2. Brisbane is almost certain to host the Olympics in 2032. Olympics boss Thomas Bach described its bid as “irresistible” and recommended it to a vote of all IOC members. “The IOC executive board has decided to propose Brisbane 2032 for election by the IOC session in Tokyo, as host of the Games of the 35th Olympiad,” Bach said.

3. ANZ has upgraded its economic forecasts, revealing it expects an even stronger and more prolonged boom in Australia. The bank’s economics team now expects 5% growth this year and 3.5% next year, with unemployment to fall to just 4.4% by the end of next year. Such a scenario would force the RBA’s hand and bring on interest rate hikes in 2023, placing mortgage holders under increasing financial stress sooner than anticipated.

4. International students will be permitted to return to New South Wales under a new plan greenlit by the state government. Under the pilot arrangement, 250 students will be permitted entry from mid-year, and will undergo quarantine in specially-built facilities. Those entries will come above and beyond the state’s existing cap on international arrivals, and the plan will now head to Canberra for the final sign-off.

5. There’s increasing chatter about a Singapore travel bubble. Peter Dutton was on “Today” this morning saying he wants one up and running “as soon as possible”. “Singapore has managed COVID very effectively like Australia and we want to see an extension of the travel bubble arrangement that we’ve got with New Zealand, which has worked really well,” he said earlier this morning.

6. The federal government’s COVID-19 disaster payment was too small and its eligibility requirements too strict to help many Victorians through the latest lockdown, advocates say. Access to the payment, which offered up to $500 a week to workers who lost hours as a result of the lockdown, closed at midnight. “The government made the eligibility criteria so narrow that many Victorians will have missed out,” said Victorian Council of Social Services CEO Emma King.

7. As NSW plans laws that will fine riders and require identification tags issued by the state government, delivery riders say safety efforts by the major platforms will have little impact if pay stays low. Business Insider Australia spoke to riders working in Sydney’s inner city about changes to how the platforms have approached safety and pay since a spate of rider deaths placed a spotlight on the delivery giant’s treatment of its workers. Gig economy platforms have come under increasing pressure globally to change the classification of their workforce from contractors to employees and improve working conditions.

8. Four out of five office building owners and managers don’t believe occupancy levels will rise significantly in the coming months, the Property Council of Australia says. In May, Melbourne’s white-collar workplace occupancy was just 45% of pre-pandemic levels, while occupancy rates were stagnant around much of the country. Sydney marked the only exception, with its inner-city offices now 68% full when benchmarked to pre-pandemic levels.

9. Peloton bikes will be available to buy in Australia from July 15. The company has faced logistics and supply problems over the past year, but Peloton Australia’s country manager Karen Lawson told Business Insider Australia it is committed to ensuring the company succeeds here. In an increasingly crowded market for personalised fitness, Lawson said that “there just isn’t a competitor that is comparable.”

10. Netflix has opened an online shop selling products inspired by shows like “Lupin” and “The Witcher.” Current offerings include hoodies, necklaces and a Kendama toy, all inspired by “Yasuke” and “Eden.” It is only running in the US for now but will expand to other countries in the coming months.
