More than five years after it was gutted by fire, one of Toowoomba’s most prominent eyesores has been finally demolished.

The old Snap Fitness building on the intersection of James and West streets was pulled down this week.

After two fires were started at the property in December 2015, it was left to the elements for years and was the subject of vandalism attacks.

Colliers International managing director Dan Dwan said the current owners decided to pull the building down while negotiations continued with potential tenants.

“As a way of moving forward with the repositioning of the asset, given the state of the building and associated issues with vandalism, they’ve cleared it for any future uses,” he said.

Mr Dwan said the future of the site won’t be known for several months.
