Radio company Here, There & Everywhere, formerly known as APN News & Media, has a track record of investing in digital publications. After Nine Entertainment Co (the owner of this masthead) bought a majority stake in PedestrianTV and Junkee was scooped up by oOh! Media, HT&E turned its attention to a third youth publication in the market at the time, Conversant Media.

Conversant, which ran Lost at E Minor, Techly and The Roar, no longer exists. But as one of oOh!Media’s biggest shareholders, HT&E may see value in Junkee for the right price. Any deal would add to HT&E’s radio assets, KIIS FM, Gold FM and WS FM.
Small, independent players
For the right price, industry observers say Junkee could be attractive to other, smaller digital publishers in the market that aren’t focused on news for young Australians.
And without Junkee Studio, some expect the price of the publication to be much more achievable for a smaller player looking to expand its offering to audiences and advertisers.
These publications include women’s lifestyle and news website Mamamia, Crikey owner Private media and Schwartz Media, the owner of The Saturday Paper.
