103 Westgarth St, Northcote scored a top result at auction over the weekend.
An Edwardian Northcote residence built in 1916 sold for an unexpectedly large sum for its owners at auction on Saturday.
The four-bedroom pad at 103 Westgarth St snared a $110,000 premium on its $1.9m reserve, selling under the hammer for a huge $2.01m.
Nelson Alexander Northcote agent Paul Rodighiero said four competitive bidders fought for the home, with plenty of “good spirited bidding” on the day.

The period home also features a modern kitchen and timber floorboards.
Original fireplaces are just one of the Edwardian features that remain.
“The front half of the house is still the original and it’s a great family home,” Mr Rodighiero said.
The vendors have been there for 27 years and reportedly “had tears in their eyes” after the sale.
“They raised their kids there and are now retiring down the coast,” the agent added.
A family from Canberra currently renting “just up the road” on the same street placed the winning $2.01m bid.
Mr Rodighiero said 95 groups had been through the property over its campaign, with the buyers inspecting it “three or four times”.
In South Morang, another four-bedroom house saw a cracking result on Saturday.
The 945sq m property at 32 Highpoint Drive sold under the hammer for $1.746m, soaring $71,000 above its $1.675m reserve.
A genuine opening bid of $1.2m was placed, before four bidders competed in $1000 increments for the home.
32 Highpoint Drive, South Morang also sold under the hammer on Saturday.
Ray White Bundoora auctioneer John Challands said the vendors were reluctant to sell, but had purchased another property locally as they “needed something with a tennis court”.
A couple with two young kids scored the contemporary home at auction.
“He had been investing really hard and saving his money and said he wanted the opportunity to do something for his family,” Mr Challands said.
Another top result was a five-bedroom mansion in Balwyn North, which sold under the hammer for $4.3m — a massive $200,000 above reserve.
Bidding started high with a $4m vendor bid, before a local family placed the winning bid.
The 33 Jacka St property last sold in 2017 for $4.55m, CoreLogic records show, but Vicprop Manningham agent Chris Vrantsis said it “needed some work”.
And in Balwyn North, 33 Jacka St notched a $4.3m sale.
The two bedroom apartment at 4/138 Grange Rd, Glen Huntly sold at auction for $513,000.
Further south, a young couple buying their first home outbid three other buyers for a two-bedroom apartment at 4/138 Grange Rd, Glen Huntly.
The auction was fast and competitive, opening with a $475,000 bid and called on the market at $500,000. It sold under the hammer for $513,000.
Realestate.com.au recorded a preliminary 52.1 per cent clearance rate from 453 available results last week, and are predicting 722 properties to go under the hammer this week.
