Aura, a new development in North Sydney. One of the units will be given away.

One lucky person who attends a showdown between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Penrith Panthers in August could be walking away from the game with a free apartment worth $1 million.

The apartment will be in a landmark $1 billion development in North Sydney known as Aura.

The unit will be one of 386 luxury apartments above a retail precinct being developed by Aqualand.

And it’s being given away through a draw during the Round 23 clash between the Panthers and Bunnies at Accor Stadium on August 18.

Three competition finalists who attend the game will be invited onto the field at halftime for a Survivor-style puzzle making challenge.

The project will be completed in 2024.

The winner will have the chance to draw from a group of keys, one of which will open the door to the new apartment.

“We can’t wait to see if someone walks away with a new home,” said Aqualand head of sales Alex Adams.

“We know this is a potentially life-changing opportunity for someone to own a magnificent new home that gives them financial security, while enjoying the benefits of living in a prominent and rapidly transforming residential area.”

Located at 168 Walker St, the Aura development was designed by architects Woods Bagot and Richards Stanisich.

Promotional materials for the development show Bunnies players enjoying the inside.

The project’s structure is visible but still under construction. It is expected to be completed by mid-2024 and will include a six-level basement carpark.

Sydney property prices tipped to fall 18 per cent

It is on the doorstep of North Sydney Council’s Ward Street Precinct masterplan, at the northern end of the CBD.

The precinct is bounded by Miller, McLaren, Walker and Berry streets, and proposes to replace the Council managed Ward St carpark with new plazas and a civic hub.

The aim is to transform the North Sydney CBD into a more vibrant and attractive destination.

Laneways will connect Miller St to two new plazas.

Aqualand’s Project Director Andrew Cooper said the laneways will improve connectivity with the town centre.

“Our design takes into account the natural walkability of North Sydney by extending the pedestrian desire lines from the Ward Street Precinct through the site,” Mr Cooper said.

“This will see a network of new laneways running between North Sydney’s buildings, creating enticing pockets filled with lively cafes, bars and walking trails.”

Mr Adams said Aura will have a multi-level hospitality offering, including cafes and wine bars, along with a Japanese eatery.

This would create “a new neighbourhood destination that is a beacon for visitors and residents in the broader metropolitan area”, Mr Adams said.
