Even after two seasons out of the NRLW, Sam Bremner had high expectations for her comeback campaign but it's fair to say she didn't see this coming.

Bremner hasn't just regained her status as one of the game's best fullbacks after losing two seasons to injury and pregnancy, she's become a crucial cog in an all-star Roosters spine that has the Tricolours unbeaten after three rounds and hot favourites to claim back-to-back premierships.
The 30-year old was in sublime form in the reigning champions' 34-6 belting of her former club St George Illawarra at last week's grand final rematch, scoring a try, running for 203 metres and breaking the line twice.
Bremner isn't satisfied yet, and with the Roosters taking on the Knights this weekend in a clash of the only unbeaten teams left in the league she's expecting more of herself yet again.
"I have a lot of improvement to go and that's something I'm always really focused on," Bremner said.
"I find it really hard to give myself a pat on the back, but I think a lot of competitive people are that way and don't really get caught up in the things they've done well.
"One of my goals returning to rugby league, I knew I wouldn't play for another ten years but whenever the day comes when I'm going to hang up the boots I want to know I got the most out of myself and my position.
"Our coaching staff have done that, not just for me but for everyone.
"The decision to be a part of the Roosters … I have so many amazing players outside me and it's been a long time since I was a part of something like this.
"Because the girls are so good at understanding their role and wanting to further themselves as players in their specific positions, it allows me to do the same thing."
Bremner isn't the only Rooster in career best form – halves Zehara Temara and Raecene McGregor have torn their opposition to shreds in the club's three wins so far this season.
McGregor has been in particularly dangerous touch.
She's already smashed the record for most try assists in a season with eight, including four in one game against the Dragons.
Throw in rugged hooker Destiny Brill, and the Roosters have a dynamic, complimentary playmaking quartet few teams can hope to contain.
"I'm ultra-energetic all the time, which is great, but I need composure on the football field, Bremner said.
"I don't need to be a hundred miles an hour on the field on the time and I get that from both of them.
"That comes from them understanding the game, they have such a great knowledge of rugby league and that's where women's rugby league is going.
"It's not about running beautiful plays, it's about having a look and understanding, and being a bit of a master. That's what they are. We're the legs and they're the brain.
"And we trust them, you can [have] halves that tell you what to do but if you don't trust they know what they're talking about it goes out the window. They just tell us what to do and we try and do it."
