What are three essential items in your wardrobe? A loose-collared shirt, workout tights of all lengths, and a solid bra. One of the things about having a baby is that your norks change size depending on what time of day it is, so you’ve got to have a good bra.

Any go-to jewellery? A gold ring left to me by my grandmother. I put it on when I need to channel the ancestors.
Can you remember a favourite outfit from when you were a child? I’ve never been able to grow my hair super long; it’s been short my entire life. When I was young, I really wanted long hair so I would wear stockings on my head, in public.
And your worst fashion mistake? I don’t make any; they’re all hits, no misses. Although wearing a tight, body-hugging, boob-enhancing dress to a funeral was probably a mistake.
“The entire Schiaparelli couture collection” is at the top of Jan’s fashion wish list.
What was your first fashion moment? Wearing a shirt made by my mother with my name knitted into it when I was 18 months old.
What’s at the top of your wish list? The entire Schiaparelli couture collection: all the beautiful velvets and the gold!
Is there something you would never wear? I would not put on a bandage dress if you paid me. They suck.
Is there a current fashion trend you’re loving? No, but I can tell you what I’m hating: low-rise jeans. Do not bring them back, Gen Z, you know not what you do; learn from your elders.
What shoes do you wear most? Converse sneakers, or Birkenstocks.

Who’s your favourite fashion icon? Princess Diana just after having William and Harry, getting around town in all the best stuff.
What do you wear on a typical working day? Working from home, it’s the old “party at the bottom, business at the top” cliché for Zoom meetings; I’ll wear a collared shirt but keep the Winnie-the-Pooh pyjama bottoms on.
What’s your favourite off-duty, casual Sunday look? Lycra bike shorts and a big loose jumper that’s not covered in baby vomit; just a clean jumper would be my favourite look at this point.
