A Norwood home offers a “Hills lifestyle” just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of The Parade and minutes from Adelaide’s central business district.

Joe and Louise Laurendi bought the home at 19 Gertrude St 14 years ago upon moving back to South Australia from Sydney, and Mr Laurendi says the home held plenty of appeal for both him and his wife.

“We loved the size, the setting, the creek, the gardens and proximity to Pembroke School, which our eldest son was going to – it was close to all the fantastic amenities we needed,” Mr Laurendi says.

“The property itself is a lovely property, and you wouldn’t know you’re in Norwood the majority of the time.

“You don’t hear any traffic, you’re set well away from the neighbours so you don’t hear them and you’ve really got no disturbances whatsoever.

“You wake up to kookaburras and magpies singing – you could virtually be in the Hills.

“The home has some amazing windows that capture all of the different shades of light year round.

“The sun really highlights the garden and you can look out on that from every window.”

The home now presents beautifully, but Mr Laurendi says it has taken a lot of hard work, and money, to transform it from what it was when they bought it into the grand entertainer it is now.

“We’ve installed an outdoor entertainment area with a wood-fire oven, refreshed decking, landscaped the garden, installed an upstairs bathroom, opened up the top level to the balcony, and introduced walk-in robes – we’ve done a lot to the home,” he says.

“We’re a large Italian family and I had my birthday party here a couple of weeks ago and there were 50 immediate family members from a one-year-old to an 84-year-old and you wouldn’t know you had that many people here.

“There’s plenty of parking here and it’s just an absolutely beautiful home to entertain in. “We’ve also got a lot of family interstate as well and there’s so much space here that they can stay and live virtually self-contained and you wouldn’t really even know they’re here.”

The home is set over two levels and has four bedrooms, quality fixtures and fittings, a cellar and is surrounded by 1714sqm of landscaped gardens.

The Laurendis are now downsizing to the inner west to be closer to their family.

“It’ll be a hard place to leave,” Mr Laurendi says.

“We’ve been very happy here.”

Expressions of interest for the home close on February 21 at 1pm.
