3 Kingfish Ct, Palm Beach

BUYERS are hot — and cold — for this newly built Palm Beach home featuring an incredible ‘wellness retreat’ with an in-built magnesium ice bath and spa, Finnish hot rock sauna, and red light therapy room.

The 2022-built waterfront property on a 809sq m lot at 3 Kingfish Ct is marketed by Troy Dowker and James Roberts, of Kollosche, and goes under the hammer on April 28.

Homeowners Nick and Kate Williams spent more than $250,000 incorporating the on-trend setup rivalling the commercial recovery centres which are booming in popularity across southeast Queensland.

The waterfront home was built in 2022

Mr Williams is a mining executive, while his wife is the founder of Nodo gluten-free bakery company with cafes across Brisbane.

The couple has three children, a daughter aged 5 and two boys, aged 3 and 1.

The in-house wellness facilities were designed in consultation with Ben Murphy, a family friend and owner of Brisbane’s Vikasati holistic centre, which opened a public bathhouse in January.

“Health is wealth, so no matter what it costs, having it there and readily available at any time of the day is really important to us,” Mr Williams said.

“On the weekends we have friends over but we’re a bit different from the drinking fests, we have saunas and ice baths.

“We have good conversations and start the week really healthy and vibrant.”

The ice bath is kept at a constant 5 degrees through a refrigeration system, while the honed concrete hot spa’s temperature is 39 degrees.

The home itself has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and was built with Kane Ridley, of Ridley Constructions, and Jared Howard, of Driftwood Constructions.

Features include high pitched ceilings in the dining and kitchen area, which has marble finishes, a butler’s pantry, and a separate barista-standard coffee nook, along with custom cabinetry, venetian plaster walls, French oak floorboards and bluestone paving.

The house is fully automated, and there’s an expansive outdoor entertaining area with integrated lounge seating, lagoon-style pool, and a private pontoon.

Mr Williams said he was first introduced to cold water immersion about five years ago by another friend, Leah Scott, who runs retreats teaching the method of Wim ‘The Iceman’ Hof.

“I see myself as a bit of a viking so the hot and cold immersion and saunas is really good for me. I do it every day,” he said.

“When you are in the ice bath you are just trying to survive — you can’t really think about much for a couple of minutes when you’re in that and it just resets everything.

“Kate and I both have pretty stressful jobs and that ability to reset is a big part of our lives, and at the end of the day it makes you feel amazing.”

Ice baths have long been used as part of athletes’ recovery process, but have crossed over to mainstream use, with proponents claiming benefits of stress relief, mental clarity and boosted immunity.

Pairing cold therapy with hot saunas and spas is believed to enhance the effects, while red light therapy is promoted as a treatment for a range of skin conditions.

The Williams are selling to build a new home on acreage in Currumbin Valley, which will also include wellness facilities.
