Western Sydney Wanderers co-owner Glenn Duncan and his wife Lisa have sold their Victorian gothic mansion Allowah for under the $12m guide after it passed in at auction on April 4.

Claudia Portale of McGrath Lower North Shore held a shorter than usual campaign for the coveted mansion on a grand 1239sq m parcel at 24 Musgrave St and it sold in just 26 days.

“There was huge interest, we had close to 60 groups come through,” Portale said.

“The property is a Mosman trophy home so it appealed to locals, out of area and international buyers.

“In the end it sold to the underbidder, a lovely family of four who’ve been in Mosman long term.

“They fell in love with it the minute they walked through the door, as did everyone.”

She added that the property ticked almost every box for family buyers.

“It just had a quirky shared driveway, which is probably what put off a few buyers, but other than that, it’s one of most beautiful homes I’ve ever seen.

The owners had renovated it to the highest standard and it’s simply so stylish in every single detail.”

The Duncans purchased Allowah for $8.5 million from Citibank’s Tim Robinson and his wife Kirstine back in 2014.

The 1881 sandstone house had a makeover by interior stylist Lisa Burdus and includes a host of contemporary updates such as a sleek marble kitchen and Travertine bathrooms.

The elaborate gardens were reimagined by acclaimed landscaper Paul Bangay under the Robinson’s previous ownership.

“I always wanted an old home and I loved Allowah the minute I walked into it,” Lisa Duncan told News Corp when the couple first listed the home through a different agent in 2019.

“The sandstone, the history of it … it was our forever home.

The home has five bedrooms, five bathrooms and off-street parking for 10 vehicles.

Believed to be one of Mosman’s first residences, Allowah was built for Mosman pioneer Richard Harnett and his business partner Sir Alexander Stuart.

The five-bedroom property has 579sq m of internal living space, views over Mosman Bay and the city skyline, multiple entertainment areas inside and out, a vast level lawn, grand pool with a neighbouring cabana plus a separate self-contained guest wing.

There is off-street parking for 10 cars as well as a four-car lock up garage.
