Three teenagers charged with attempted murder over an alleged machete attack on a Gold Coast security guard have faced court.

A 57-year-old man remains in hospital with wounds to his abdomen and legs following the alleged attack outside Westfield Shopping Centre at Helensvale about 7.45am on Friday.

Police allege he was ushering the group of teens, aged 19, 17 and 13, from the centre when he was attacked and suffered multiple stab wounds.

The group allegedly fled the scene in a stolen black Holden.

Kai Matthew Collins, 19, faced Southport Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with attempted murder, robbery with violence, attempt to enter premises and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

His lawyer Vered Turner made no application for bail when Mr Collins appeared but asked police for CCTV footage of the alleged attack.

Magistrate Mark Bamberry adjourned the case to September 5, when Mr Collins' appearance is not required.

A 13-year-old girl from Upper Coomera and a 17-year-old boy from Beenleigh also faced court on Saturday, charged with attempted murder.

The 17-year-old's matter was adjourned for a bail application on Wednesday, while the 13-year-old's case was adjourned until next month.

The security guard is in a stable condition.
