238 Yarra St, South Geelong, is set to be auctioned on October 28.
Resort-style living on the city fringe is a rare combination at this super-sized South Geelong surprise packet.
The much-loved family home has been the scene of many a poolside party over the years, with an impressive outdoor entertainment area creating an unexpected urban oasis.
Vendors Julie and Trevor Brocks said the palm-fringed backyard at 238 Yarra St, South Geelong, had been a magnet for their four children and their friends since they undertook a major renovation 20-plus years ago.

The outdoor entertainment area overlooks the swimming pool.
“They used to call it ‘Brocks Central’ because all our family would just gather, we’d have Christmas there, we’d have birthdays parties, pool parties constantly,” Mrs Brocks said.
“The kids friends always came to our house it was a real place of everyone coming together.
“It’s very resort like and we just love the birds in the trees. It’s funny to be there because you don’t realise how close you are to the city.”
She said he husband, who grew up around the corner, originally purchased the 1930s character home in 1992.
Timber floors flow throughout the main living area.
With four children, the vendors needed a long breakfast bar.
He was drawn to the 713sq m block, where he replaced old timber stables at the rear with shedding that is now home to a man cave with a built-in bar and a workshop that sits alongside a double carport.
The house was replumbed, reroofed, rewired and replastered in parts ahead of the extension in 2000 which added a light-filled rear living zone, a fourth bedroom and another study or potential fifth bedroom, plus two bathrooms.
The open-plan kitchen, dining and living room spans more than 11m and has north-facing windows framing views of the swimming pool and separate spa as well as direct access to the outdoor area.
The expansive outdoor kitchen even has an even and dishwasher.
The swimming pool has been a magnet for family and friends.
Here, an ethanol fireplace, ceiling fans, outdoor blinds and a stainless steel kitchen equipped with a 600m oven, dishwasher, barbecue, rangehood and a sink elevates social occasions to the next level.
“We sit out there every night in summer,” Mrs Brocks said. “But with the blinds you can use it in winter as well, which we have done.”
She said the shed doubled as a rumpus room, creating a second living space at the property that had housed both billiard and table tennis tables over the years.
The main bedroom has an ensuite and a fireplace.
The family bathroom has a shower and bath.
The shed has its own bar and lends itself to many uses.
The front section of the home has a more traditional feel, with the central hallway revealing high ceilings, original Baltic timber floorboards, picture rails and ornate cornices.
A decorative fireplace is the centrepiece of the main bedroom, which has both a built-in and walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite.
The remaining four bedrooms all have built-in wardrobes and share access to a family bathroom with a bath and stone topped double vanity.
The shedding includes a double carport and workshop with rear lane access.
For the Brocks, one of the best things about the property has been having space to park enough cars for their six-person family.
Their place is in hot demand when the Cats are playing at home.
And, of course, they’ll miss of the convenience of wandering to city eateries and work.
Buxton agent Dylan Taggert will auction 238 Yarra St, South Geelong, on October 28 at 10.30am. Price hopes are $1.85m to $2m.
