96 Parkhill Rd, Kew - for herald sun real estate

Family’s looking for an A-list address would be hard pressed to find a better spot than this Kew charmer that rolls out the red-brick carpet to welcome you home.

One-time Oscars guest Ingrid Goodyear bought the house in 1995 and has since extended and renovated, adding a pool and a “pretty cool” walk-in wardrobe.

While its classic weatherboard facade framed by manicured gardens still retains its old-school cool, the updates have made it a true entertainer’s home.

Something Ms Goodyear knows a bit about after a career in Kodak’s motion picture division, including working with Wally Pfister, who was a cinematographer on Batman flick The Dark Knight, helped score her a night at the Oscars in 2010.

Later on at the hairdresser she opened Who magazine and saw herself in the background of an Oscars night photo of Carey Mulligan. She also managed to photobomb Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

“My boss and I walked the red carpet three times,” she said.

The fun ended when a security guard ushered them inside.

But she remembered how to throw a party, and ushered 120 guests into the home for her daughter’s 21st birthday.

The four-bedroom floorplan spans two levels, with guests likely to home in on a spacious open-plan entertainment space at the rear of the ground level.

A designer kitchen with a Belling oven, granite benchtops and shaker-style cabinetry is the living zone’s visual highlight. In warmer weather the party can spill out to the sandstone-paved al fresco that looks onto the solar-heated pool.

There’s also a sitting room or formal lounge with a gas fireplace for more intimate occasions.

The main bedroom is on the ground level and comes with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. It’s joined by a second bedroom with a fireplace, while two more are found upstairs with a retreat and central bathroom.

Bekdon Richards director Paul Richards agreed the home was a “real entertainer”, but added families would also appreciate a wide range of nearby schools.

It’s also close to Cotham Rd shops and transport.
