Accor Pacific head Adrian Williams said hotel results in Sydney over the weekend were “higher than anything we’ve seen since the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games”.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to witness this incredible moment, where the convergence of music, sports and tourism ignites such excitement and possibility,” Williams said.
Ray White head of research Vanessa Rader said that while concerts last year from performers such as Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Paul McCartney and Coldplay led to soaring hotel room rates, “this year Swiftie fever has taken over, setting new benchmarks for hotel rates”.
“With fans travelling internationally and interstate to see the pop princess, rooms across Sydney for the weekend have skyrocketed as much as 300 per cent compared to the average Sydney room rate achieved last February of $287 per night,” Rader said.
“For Melbourne, Tay Tay’s visit coincided with the week of Valentine’s Day, making it a profitable season for hoteliers.”

Rader said CBD hotel rates in Melbourne jumped from an average $220 a night average recorded last February to as high as $900 a night and above in the past few weeks.
Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth have also had their share of tourist numbers with major events such as WWE and Pink in hot demand this month and next, which is likely to further stimulate the local economy and hotel sector.
