A body has been found in the search for a man missing for 13 days in northern Queensland, police say.

It's unknown whether the body at this stage is 38-year-old Scott Billingham, who has been missing from Mackay since March 8.  

A police spokesperson said the body was found at McCreadys Creek, in the Mackay suburb of Andergrove, on Thursday morning and "formal forensics and identification are currently underway".

"As such, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage," the spokesperson said.

Emergency services had been searching McCreadys Creek in recent days for signs of Mr Billingham.

He was last seen socialising at the Andergrove Tavern on Friday, March 8.

He had finished work and was wearing an orange long-sleeve high-visibility shirt, blue utility pants and beige boots.

He left the establishment at about 5:10pm and is believed to have been dropped off near a small group of shops at Emperor Drive.

Yesterday, his partner Kylie Gunders made an emotional plea for "Scott to come home". 

"Every day is a nightmare," she said. 

"Scott, if you hear this, I love you and I miss you so much. I can't do this without you. I'm never going to stop looking for you."

Senior Sergeant Chris Eaton yesterday said there were grave concerns for his welfare.

"We certainly know that Scott's disappearance is out of character — he is not doing the things that he would ordinarily do, he is not accessing the things he would ordinarily access," he said.
