Bids weren’t forthcoming for a Geelong West character home renovation complete with a super-sized garage but the selling agent is confident in finding a buyer soon.

It seemed every person and their dogs were out to watch whether the four-bedroom house at 29 Albert St would find a new owner at Saturday’s auction.

Despite the crowd and plenty of passing traffic, including a local taking her pooches for a walk down to Pakington St and a late arrival in a red Ferrari, McGrath, Geelong auctioneer David Cortous couldn’t entice an offer from the throng.

He passed in the property after making a $1.8m vendor bid.

The Edwardian era house has been completely made over by the keen renovators, who demolished the back section paving the way for a new main bedroom suite and a showstopping living zone and enclosed deck.

The large open-plan living zone boasts a high ceiling and striking kitchen.

“Not very often do we sell a property of this calibre and to polish on as much as what this property has got,” Mr Cortous said.

Listing agent Carl Hammond is confident about the interest in the home, which was listed with price hopes from $1.795m to $1.895m after several groups stepped following the auction.

“We’re talking to a couple of people that had come through for the first time today,” Mr Hammond said.

“And then also, there’s a couple of people just trying to get finance organised that weren’t able to bid under auction conditions.

“I think it will go within the next week,” he said.
