12 Palmaston Drive, Greenvale - for herald sun real estate

12 Palmaston Drive, Greenvale went under the hammer on the weekend.

Brothers Sonay and Sizer Markahi have gone from living around the corner from each other in Greenvale to selling their respective homes.

Sizer and his wife sold their four-bedroom house at 4 Esther Mews for $1.02m last weekend.

And while the auction for Sonay and his wife’s house at 12 Palmaston Drive saw the five-bedroom property passed in on a circa-$1.13m bid on Saturday, Ray White Craigieburn’s Adrian Prestileo said that he is confident the home will soon find a new owner.

It will be relisted for private sale with a $1.2m price tag.

Mr Prestileo, who also had the listing for Sizer’s residence, said both siblings were passionate about design and had plenty of input into each of their builds.

Sonay’s home was constructed from about 16,000 hand-picked recycled bricks.

Completed in November last year, the house features a theatre room and open-plan living and dining space.

There’s a 900mm Smeg oven in the kitchen, while stacker doors lead to an enclosed outdoor entertaining area boasting a built-in barbecue and wood heater.

The main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.

Stone benchtops, brushed gold fittings and a porcelain-tiled double garage are also on offer, along with a 13kW solar-power system and double-glazed windows.

“I love the 4m-high ceiling when you walk in through the beautiful Italian-imported front door,” Mr Prestileo said.

Sizer said his brother and sister-in-law, who have young children, had enjoyed when their wider family visited the home.

“His wife loved the kitchen and Sonay loves design, picking out paints and colours,” Sizer added.

Sonay is moving to a new home close by, but Sizer and his family have moved about 20 minutes’ drive away to a house with a large backyard that’s close to schools for their own children, who are aged two and three years old.

Sizer said that he and his wife’s Esther Mews’ house was a Hamptons-style pad.

“We were thinking to have countryside- like house in the city,” he said.

“Before building, we were studying home design –

it was a hobby for us and it became like part-time work.”

They were rapt to receive positive feedback from buyers prior to their April 13 auction.

“Whoever went in loved it, from the tiles to the colours,” Sizer said.
