A NEW Zealand farmer’s frank job advertisement has gone viral after he declared he wanted to hire someone who wasn’t phone obsessed and wore “his pants around his arse not knees”.
Geoff Wallace, who owns cattle a farm at Waimate in the Canterbury area of New Zealand’s South Island, wanted a stockman who was “a non-smoker, wears his hat with the peak to the front”.
He wanted a second man, a labourer, who “can be a smoker — but will not have the time” because he would be hired to “help pour 800 cubic metres of concrete”.

Mr Wallace, who later said he had hired phone-obsessed young people before, decided to specifiy in the ad to “eliminate those people” and save him time.
He revealed that four of his workers were more than 70 years old and “they achieve more than some younger people”, stuff.co.nz reported.
He did employ one 28-year-old but older staff tended not to obsessively check their social media or text messages. He needed a person who was ready to work.

The ad specifies someone who can “divorce himself from his phone for more than two hours at a time”.
Speaking on The Project in New Zealand after his ad went viral, Mr Wallace explained why he needed alert people for the roles on his farm, where he has 600 bulls.
“With our business we run a lot of machinery and every machine we own has the capability of killing you,” he said.
“We require staff members to be focused and have their mind on the job and not be of sloppy character.
“I need someone who can work unsupervised.”
He said he’s had good response to the advertisement from local people and two school leavers.
“I’ve got some very good prospects and I expect we’ll have the job filled by the end of the week,” he said.
