PRAHRAN and neighbouring Windsor rode the wave of gentrification a little later than other inner-south suburbs.
The median house price of Prahran grew 7.7 per cent in the 12 months to November 2016, according to CoreLogic. That price is now $1.4 million, and the suburb enjoys a status as one of Melbourne’s most affluent.
The median price of units is $530,000, and fell 1.1 per cent over the same period.

IT TOOK half an hour and more than 200 bids for the hammer to fall at this period home. About 50 people watched Marshall White sales director John Bongiorno auction the circa-late 1880s three-bedroom house. Two bidders took the price from $1.7 million to $1.92 million where the home was called on the market. Two new parties took the reigns at $1.98 million, with bids flying back and forth in $2000 increments before it sold.

DESPITE rising damp and a collapsing ceiling, two bidders saw a future in this three-bedroom Victorian home on 235sq m. Previously owned by a collector, Hocking Stuart sales consultant Walter Summons said it took 17 skips to clear the home of its contents.
