Fiddle Leaf Figs and Monsteras might appear to be the Insta-feed-dominating darlings of the house plant world, but they’ve been pricked at the post as the world’s most popular.
The cactus is the favourite “house plant” of Instagram, according to HomeHow.co.uk, which analysed hashtags to find the most prolific on the platform.
There were almost 24 million posts including #cactus, well ahead of second-placed #hoya (about 2 million), which also has plenty of bragging rights given the one with the crown (of thorns) is the name of a whole family, which people are likely to be posting from nature, too.

Monstera was still up there, though, with about 1.65 million hashtags, followed by Philodendron at about 800,000 and Ferns (about 600,000).
The Snake Plant was the “most Instagrammable” of the noted “air purifying plants” in the top 20, according to HomeHow.co.uk, (about 300,000), followed by Chinese Evergreen (about 240,000) and Spider Plant (about 230,000).
“The least Instagrammable air purifying plants” were Aloe Vera (about 100,000 hashtags) and Ficus (about 50,000).
Corn Plants (Dracaena fragrans) came in last in the study, with about 40,000 hashtags.
