Do you have a favourite fashion designer?
I love labels that showcase detail, embellishments and patterns like The Vampire’s Wife, Temperley London, Tutu Du Monde, Romance Was Born and Zimmermann.

Can you remember a favourite outfit you wore as a child?
A handmade tutu and fairy wings from Balnarring markets with a floral top, white stockings and little pointed flats.

And your worst fashion mistake?
Trigger tracksuit pants with lace-up Blundstone boots and a beanie. It was the hot combo for year 8 camp in 1996.

What was your first fashion moment? When I was 11, my aunt asked my cousin and me to be flower girls for her wedding; she let us design our own dresses and had them made for us. Complete with sweetheart necklines and satin waist sashes, we thought we were princesses.

What’s at the top of your wish list? The “Art Nouveau II” ring by Julia deVille. I have three of her rings and they are something to behold. A blue opal one she made for me looks like mermaid treasure.

Amy Arbus captured the New York street style of the 1980s, including this image of Madonna in 1983.

Is there something you would never wear? Stiletto mules. People who can walk comfortably in them must possess special powers, powers that I have not been blessed with.

Is there a current fashion trend you like?
Brands becoming more environmentally conscious with their production methods. I look to goodonyou.eco to help me make informed choices, it provides ethical ratings for thousands of clothing labels.

What shoes do you wear most often?
Adidas “Sleek” sneakers.

What do you sleep in?
Boody PJs – they’re like aeroplane pyjamas, so comfy.

Do you have a favourite fashion icon?
I’m inspired by a book of photographs by Amy Arbus, On the Street: 1980-1990. It’s full of portraits of unique outfits from New York – each an audacious expression of creativity.

What’s your favourite off-duty, casual Sunday look?
Denim shorts and one of my old, faded band T-shirts – they’re full of holes and memories from my 20s.

Fleur’s “Woodlandia” collection for Tutu Du Monde is available from tutudumonde.com.au.
