Former NRL star Dan Conn is ambassador for men’s skincare brand Brutal Truth. For more than a decade he has been fighting a battle with his mental health and is now working with young men who have lost their way using a combination of movement, mateship and sharing experiences.

Who do you look up to? Logic [the rapper] is awesome. His story, from the bottom to the top and how he helped so many people along the way, is epic.

The rule I live by Be grateful always – life is good, you just have to change the way you’re looking at it. Sometimes we get so caught up with watching and scrolling through other people’s lives that we forget that our life is good and we need to be grateful.

My top grooming tip Look younger by staying well groomed: the caveman look doesn’t work, fellas. Self-care makes me feel so much more switched on and happier. For hair, it’s not about packing on the gel. I used to overdo it. Now I use my girl’s blow-dryer to get some volume; it sounds crazy, but those things are the bomb.

Favourite colour I change all the time, but right now purple and yellow, L.A. Lakers-style.

Favourite exercise routine Sand runs into the ocean at sunrise.
