The stunning Mickleham movie mansion has finally sold.

A palatial mansion in Melbourne’s north that featured in the film Promised starring Tina Arena and Paul Mercurio has sold after 437 days on the market and a $1m discount.

The 2019 Australian movie told the story of two adults who were promised in marriage as children by their fathers.

The “Tuscany villa” at 65 Forest Red Gum Drive, Mickleham, where the production’s scenes were shot fetched $3.345m, according to CoreLogic.

This was lower than the six-bedroom property’s $4m-$4.5m advertised asking range.

Set on 1.61ha, the mansion also appeared in the background of Bollywood films and an Indian music video.

The home’s jaw-dropping features included a man-made lake, American-style barn, twin staircases, a library, gym and indoor heated pool located next to a wood-fired pizza oven.

The home’s original owner imported materials including marble from Italy to build it about 17 years ago.

Outdoors, the gardens were planted with cherry, apricot and lemon trees.

The grounds contain guest accommodation boasting three bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and laundry.

A library to store many leather-bound books.

The abode has become Mickleham’s second-most expensive property, with the suburb’s $3.7m residential price record set by a five-bedroom house at 70 Arcadia Ave in February.

Prior to its latest sale, the Forest Red Gum Drive mansion sold for $2.55m in 2020 after 348 days on the market.

Starr Property Group Deer Park area manager Kanwal Singh said the property was listed with another agency prior to his company taking over the marketing.

Mr Singh sold the home after a 13-week campaign to a Melbourne-based family with two children, who are planning to move in once the settlement period ends.

The property attracted multiple offers before it sold to the new owners.

“Buyers liked the space, location and architectural brilliance of the home,” Mr Singh said.

“We showed it to 17 families.”

Mr Singh said many of the families were interested to hear the home had been used as a filming location.
