A Point Cook family could be forgiven for developing a sense of deja vu after buying a luxury two-storey Lara home for a record price.

The four-bedroom house at 11 Osprey Court sold for $1.595m at auction on Tuesday after two contested the 809sq m property.

Records show that’s the highest price paid for a residential home in Lara on a standard block.

Lara’s top price of $1.68m was set in October for a 7198m property that carried a residential zoning at 60 Forest Road North.

Selling agent Matthew Wade-Taylor, of Ray White Lara, said the buyers were a couple with two small boys.

“They actually built this same house a few years ago and they weren’t really looking (to move), but they saw the house pop up online and they were looking for a particular house,” he said.

“They fell in love with it and went for it.”

But Mr Wade-Taylor said the three-year-old Porter Davis Homes Waldorf design was a big step up from the version the buyers had built.

“I’m pretty sure it had all the bathrooms, but he said it wasn’t to this standard – It was upgraded throughout the whole house.”

Bidding opened at $1.35m, but really took off once it reached the $1.535m reserve.

Set on a 809 sq m block, Mr Wade-Taylor said it’s a resort-style home in a Hamptons style.

“It has four bedrooms, a study and five bathrooms, so every bedroom had an ensuite.

“With a beautiful open-plan kitchen area and an in-ground solar heated pool it was screaming luxury.

“It definitely drew some interest. There was a lot of people who admired the house who live in the area who came through and had a look

Records show the property has set a new benchmark for a home on a standard residential block.

The previous high was at Moorhen Drive for $1.48m.

“This has smashed that at $1.595m.”

Mr Wade-Taylor said a more expensive home on residential land sold for $1.68m in October, but that was on a 7198sq m creekfront property with development potential.
