Built in 1854 and in “excellent condition”, the church sits in a peaceful location on a large 940sqm allotment. The property comprises a chapel building as well as a small cemetery. It is currently vacant and not being used.

According to the listing on realestate.com.au, a panel would select the successful purchaser. The criteria from the panel would include the “intended future use of the property” as well as “capacity and willingness to manage the cemetery”.

The church was built in 1854.

Since both the chapel building and the cemetery are local heritage listed, the building cannot be demolished and the external appearance needs to stay true to its current character, the listing stated.

Selling agent Richard Inwood of Inwood Real Estate who has presented the property to market said the unique building offers “a lot of potential”.

“It has never been on the market and is a very unique property,” Mr Inwood said.

“It could be run as a bed & breakfast property. It also has potential to host events and weddings. Most buyers would be keen to convert it into a residential accommodation, perhaps as a studio.”

The church is located 10 minutes away from Gawler and other amenities.

Best offers are being accepted till February 10, 2023 and a price guide has not been listed.
