Rock musician Ben Gordon, the drummer of veteran heavy metal band Parkway Drive, is selling his Byron Bay home.

McGrath agents Nick Dunn and Will Phillips are seeking offers over $10m.

Gordon, who also co-owns the popular Byron Bay hotspot The General Store, recently had the 2000-built home redesigned by local interior designer Mel Gubbin of Ave Twenty Two.

Gordon’s brief was to enhance his beachside lifestyle and views, and create a retreat with a sense of calm.

The Pacific Vista Drive home is now Mediterranean minimalist, with Venetian render, Travertine cobblestones and timber. It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms across its two levels, as well as a gym and a home office. The open-plan lounge features a central atrium and Oblica wood fireplace. That meets the glass-wrapped dining room which opens to an alfresco courtyard with built-in Artusi barbecue. There is also an outside sunken firepit and a magnesium infinity pool and spa.

Gordon is a founding member of the Byron Bay-based band formed in 2003. The other original band members are Winston McCall, Jeff Ling and Luke Kilpatrick.

Parkway Drive’s 2010 album, Deep Blue, was their most successful to date, charting in several countries worldwide. In 2020, Parkway Drive were listed at No. 32 in Rolling Stone Australia’s 50 Greatest Australian Artists of All Time issue.

Gordon has listed well on the back of the band’s success.

The Netflix docuseries, Viva the Underdogs, is based on the band.

There was only one sale on Pacific Vista Drive last year, a 1995-built home which fetched $6.5m.

Gordon paid $2.45m for the home on 660 sqm in 2019.
