End of an era for Nate Myles having now sold his mum’s home in his hometown.
It’s the end of an era for NRL great Nate Myles, as he hands over the keys to his mum’s house, giving another local a chance to make memories in his Queensland hometown.
Mr Myles and wife actor Tessa James have now put his mum’s house in Gordonvale – half an hour from Cairns – under contract, deciding to accept an offer from a local buyer.
This as the couple face another big decision over whether to take an offer for their 1.7ha beach retreat in East Trinity, half an hour north of Cairns, or to wait for the property to be taken to auction.

Harcourts Property Centre real estate agent Tony Williamson confirmed the family’s three bedroom Gordonvale home was under contract.
“That was a local that bought that,” Mr Williamson said. “Gordonvale’s a little bit cheaper than Cairns so it’s pretty attractive. It’s only about half an hour from Cairns and the prices are normally 20 per cent cheaper than Cairns so people like to buy in Gordonvale.”
“They’ve also put a new big double lane highway through, so it makes the commute easy – it used to take half an hour, maybe it’s quicker now. There’s such good property up here.”
The home had been listed as an “investors special”, sitting opposite Johnson Park and backing onto cane fields.

The couple had listed Mr Nate’s mum’s home at a relatively affordable level, wanting offers over $359,000 for the 713sq m site.
Mr Williamson listed the home as having a tenant in place at $400 a week until July 2024, making gross rental yield on the minimum $359,000 price tag come in at about 5.8 per cent.
It was described as having “a real country feel with views of the pyramid from the front deck”.
“Easy living and always rented the property has vehicle access to the big fully fenced backyard complete with chook pen. This rare offering is located in the original Gordonvale township which is only 22 kilometres from Cairns.”

Gordonvale is an affordable option for families wanting to buy close to Cairns.
The couple at one stage had six properties in Queensland off their earnings over the years – selling three last year alone in Currumbin Valley on the Gold Coast, and Brisbane suburbs Kedron and Moorooka. Their first home together – bought in Palm Beach in 2011 – was sold four years earlier for about a $200,000 gain.
The couple now have just one property remaining in their names in Queensland, which could also soon be gone at a relatively affordable price given the value that can be gained out of the Cairns region.

The couple relocated this Queenslander onto the site.
Mr Williamson said anyone who was interested should send their offers in for the 1.7ha beach retreat before it goes to auction.
He described said the beach retreat as one of the most exciting properties to hit the market “in a long time” given its solid waterfront location, 17,000sq m of space, and over 160m of waterfrontage to the Coral Sea.
