AFL Tribunal member and former umpire Jordan Bannister has finally blown the whistle on the more than $8m sale of his Brighton home.

A tumultuous listing process for the former Carlton and Essendon footballer and his TV presenter wife Natalie Hunter, who works for Channel 10, took more than six months to conclude.

It is understood the 400 New St home sold for in excess of $8.2m last month, and was advertised for $7.9m-$8.6m before a deal was done.

Fredman Property Group director Joel Fredman said a prospective buyer, who reviewed the home in 2023, circled back and wound up competing with another purchaser who first inspected the property this year.

The keys went to a local buyer, with Mr Fredman noting Bannister and Hunter were thrilled to have a deal done for what had been their dream home before a change in life circumstances.

“They’re sad to see the house go, but really pleased to see a nice young family take possession,” he said.

They’ve had a more than six-month wait, after then Marshall White agent Matthew Pillios initially listing the home for $8.5m-$9.35m in July last year.

Mr Fredman took over the sale late last year after Mr Pillios resigned unexpectedly from his former firm.

He has since commenced working with Kay & Burton in Brighton.

And while conditions for elite Bayside homes were initially unideal, Mr Fredman noted Brighton seemed to be turning a corner in 2024.

“Towards the last half of last year, the top end of the market fell away, but high-end homes seem to have picked up now,” he said.

“We have sold three of the five properties to get more than $7m in the area this year. It feels like the energy is back and there’s a bit more confidence in Brighton.”
