The four victims of a horror fatal crash in Western Australia's Wheatbelt region have been identified.

The ute carrying all four people crashed into a tree near the town of Clackline, about an hour's drive east of Perth.

The incident occurred about 12:30am on Friday on the Great Eastern Highway.

Police said a 21-year-old man, now identified as Rhys Davies, was driving the silver Nissan Navara at the time of the crash.

His two younger brothers, 19-year-old Ambrose Davies and 9-year-old Strahn Davies were in the back seats.

Family friend Bob Martin, 45, who was visiting from New South Wales, was in the front passenger seat.

All four people sustained catastrophic injuries and died at the scene.

'The community will be hurting'

WA Premier Roger Cook said the incident was a tragic reminder to take care when driving on country roads.

"Our hearts go out to that family — to lose three brothers is an incredibly tragic situation, and that family, and indeed the community, will be hurting," he said.

"Let this be a continued reminder that driving on roads is a dangerous activity, we must take every care we can to protect ourselves, to protect our loved ones."

Agricultural Region MP Darren West said it was a "dreadful time" for the impacted families and their communities.

"In the blink of an eye, families' lives are turned upside down," he said.

"We feel it as a community, we always do, sadly we haven't figured out how to stop these events happening."

Mr West said significant investment had been put into road safety, including creating audible edge lines on roads.

"We're keeping working at what we can on that, but sadly, we always seem to be every few months having these sorts of discussions about families that are being ripped apart with road trauma and road accidents," he said.

Reminder to take care on country roads

WA is on track to record its worst year of road fatalities in nearly a decade.

At least 60 people have died on the road so far this year, compared to 46 this time last year.

It's the highest number of road fatalities since 2016, when there were 62 deaths on record in the same time period.

More than half of this year's fatalities have occurred on regional roads.

Mr Cook said there had been a jump in motorcycle crashes in particular.

"We've seen a significant increase in the number of motorcycle accidents of late, I hope it's an aberration," he said.

"I just continue to implore everyone — take care on the roads."

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and police have asked anyone with information about the ute as it was travelling in the area to contact them.
