Kieron Hunter, left, calls for bids at 54 Riverview Tce, Belmont.
A classic California bungalow in a favourite riverside Belmont pocket found a buyer after auction.
The three-bedroom timber residence at 54 Riverview Tce sold on Saturday amid negotiations after the auction didn’t reach the vendor’s reserve price.
Two bidders contested the auction or the 580sq m property on a corner block after Barry Plant, Highton auctioneer Kieron Hunter opened with an $800,000 vendor bid.

But the auction stalled with the bidding reaching $850,000 and Mr Hunter couldn’t prize another rise from the underbidders.
Mr Hunter said the property later sold at a higher price, that was just below the $889,000 to $949,000 range.

Auctioneer Kieron Hunter speaks with the highest bidder during the auction.
“We had probably four or five considering it,” Mr Hunter said after the auction.
“A lot of interest from people from East Geelong, Geelong West, South Geelong, all looking at competing properties in that area.
“The main attraction was with Riverview Tce. They were similar homes but you’re getting the access to the river and walking distance to amenities, shops, things that you don’t get in some of those other locations.
“It obviously needs some work., it was purely driven on the facade and the location. It has a good orientation on the block as well.”
