Noosa Heads properties are a hot commodity

A mining boss has listed a Noosa Heads property for more than double what he paid for it just two years ago.

Dan Wade, general manager of business development at Hancock Prospecting, the mining company owned by Australia’s richest person, Gina Rinehart, is back on the market for $23.9 million – more than double what it sold for in August 2020.

Back then, Wade paid $10,910,00 for the waterfront residence, according to publicly-available property records.

Wade’s address is listed in Western Australia.

The Mossman Court residence sits on a 612sq m block with a pool, private jetty and pontoon.

Designed by Paul Clout, the striking house has five bedrooms including a king-size master suite with a lounge, kitchenette, walk-in robe, bathroom and a waterfront terrace.

There are multiple living areas with leather lounges, silk rugs, TVs and art pieces, a 10-seater dining table, a gas fireplace, laundry with appliances and other designer appliances and features.

It is being sold with all of its inventory, according to the listing which says it is “fully inclusive to cater for (the) high-end holiday market”.

“Savour some vitamin sea while lolling on the timber deck below, which extends to a jetty with a pontoon,” the listing by Tom Offermann Real Estate agent Rebekah Offermann says.

“And what is in-between? A glistening 20-metre white sand beach on the whisper-quiet side of the Noosa Sound waterway.”

It is one of three properties listed in Wade’s name in Queensland.

Property records show he also purchased another property on the same street for $20 million on August 3, 2020, just 25 days before paying $10,910,000 for the listed property.

His name is also against another property purchased for $9.9 million in Hawthorne on August 6, 2020.

That property is just a few doors down from another property owned by Rinehart.

The median house price at Noosa Heads has soared 127.3 per cent in the past five years, and sits at $2.1 million, according to the latest REA Market Trends report for November.

But sought-after waterfront homes often go for way more, with one selling for $27 million in July, and another selling for $19.5 million to Talisman Mining chairman Kerry Harmanis in March.
