Melbourne-created comedy One Room Renovations has been celebrated at international web series festivals.
Missing The Block and need that reno hit? Or just a dumb laugh?
Eva Seymour and Marianne Mcloughlin star in satire series ‘One Room Renovations’, created by Michael Jones and Caitlin Farrugia, with new episodes out weekly on SLAPBANG.TV.
The spoof reality show follows girl bosses, interior designers and best friends Beth and Courtney as they transform rooms in a single day, leaving an imprint on their clients’ lives.

Marianne Mcloughlin and Eva Seymour are certified girl bosses in the spoof reality show.
One Room Renovations joins A Simple Act of Kindness, now on at St Kilda’s Red Stitch Theatre, as Australia’s obsession with real estate — from reno shows to housing affordability pain — comes to the fore of comedy.
Seymour shares her own property journey, from Auckland to Melbourne, below.
Actor Eva Seymour loves Fitzroy North life.
FIRST HOME
My very first home, which I inhabited for a full two weeks, was my grandmother’s house in Parnell, Auckland. I did spend longer than two weeks there throughout my childhood though.
It was an ‘80s aesthetic dream, with plenty of browns and beige, winding stairs and a carpeted bathroom. Plus, it had a random column in the middle of the open plan living room which was great for climbing.
It’s giving … not sure yet.
CURRENT HOME
I’m lucky enough to live alone in a lovely flat in Fitzroy North. It’s in a ‘70s block with north facing windows near a squeaky train line and lots of gum trees. I feel bad for my neighbours, though, as the walls aren’t particularly thick and I have a tendency to belt out a tune on repeat.
The best things about Fitzroy North are the green spaces, St Georges Road, and all the cats on the street I can pat.
Former Real Housewives of New York star Carole Radziwill’s NYC apartment is Seymour’s dream home *furniture and life included.
DREAM HOME
If I could live anywhere I’d probably kick Carole Radziwill (formerly of Real Housewives of New York) out of her SoHo apartment in NYC and take it over.
I’d keep her furniture though. I’d also try and find a way to live her exact lifestyle. As an avid realty TV fan, I can’t really look past the Real Housewives’ homes. I wouldn’t turn down Beth and Courtney (from One Room Renovations) doing a one room renovation either, just to see their offensively inappropriate interpretation of the space.
