Tony De Leede’s one bedroom apartment in the Phoenician Resort is priced at offers above $499,000.

An Australian fitness juggernaut has listed two resort-style apartments bought during the pandemic for sale, both of which come with heated pools, gyms and saunas.

Tony De Leede – who brought Fitness First to Australia at the turn of the century and went on to launch the 500-acre luxury Gwinganna retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland five years later – has a swath of real estate purchases including seven properties on the Gold Coast and one in Brisbane’s Carindale, according to property records.

His most recent property move saw a one bedroom, one bathroom, one car space apartment put up for sale fully furnished in the popular Phoenician Resort complex on Queensland Ave on the Gold Coast.

The apartment is priced at offers above $499,000, a solid rise given mammoth price surges seen on the coast since Covid-19 – and a full 78 per cent more than he paid for the unit almost a year into the pandemic in December 2020.

The property was listed by real estate agent Roger Haddad of Gold Coast Residential Properties Broadbeach as being “exceptional” and “meticulously maintained”.

The popular resort caters for both owner-occupiers and short term stays with its own reception.

“The fully furnished larger one bedroom apartment is 77sq m in size with a generous floor plan and spacious living area,” the listing said.

“The Phoenician Resort has been a sought-after complex in recent years for both owner occupier and investor. The resort offers all occupants a relaxed lifestyle without having to compromise the weekly budget.”

The 24/7 holiday lifestyle at the resort includes facilities like a heated indoor pool, outdoor pool, spa plus sauna, large gymnasium area, games room and the Phoenician Health Spa.

Expressions of interest are being called for the two bedroom apartment.

The Elysian is located directly across from the ocean, separated by a children’s park.

Mr Haddad, who did not return a call for comment, has also listed a second two bedroom apartment for sale for Mr De Leede – this one in the 21-storey Elysian building which was completed by Spyre Group in early 2020.

The apartment on Old Burleigh Road is across the road from the ocean, with two bathrooms and a double car space allocation, plus 131sq m in floorspace – thanks to a massive 37sq m undercover outdoor alfresco area.

The “lifestyle beach home” was listed as having even higher specs than Mr De Leede’s Phoenician Resort unit with built-in SMEG appliances throughout, premium imported stone benchtops and splash back, bespoke tapware, high ceilings, with amenities including a meeting room, indoor lap pool, sauna room, gymnasium/yoga studio, automated carparking system, and a “my butler” virtual concierge.

Mr De Leede is calling for expressions of interest in the two bed property, which is located 500m from the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, 850m from Star Casino and 17.8km from Gold Coast Airport.
