WHEN Leanne McLellan set out in search of nicer neighbours 13 years ago, the bar

was set low.

“My last neighbour almost drove me insane,” Ms McLellan said.

“She used to hose me through my windows. We lived on a 500sqm block and there was just no escaping her.”

“I first came to know about the house when I took an art class with the former

owner,” she said.

“One day she came into art class and said it was on the market and I knew I had to

try and buy it.”

The five-bedroom, four-bathroom home has transformed under Ms McLellan’s

capable hands to become the French Provincial cross Hamptons-style abode it is

today.

“When we first came here every room was painted a different colour — some were

even hot pink,” she said.

And the grounds have had their own metamorphosis by way of husband Simon’s

unlikely conversion from CEO to green thumb.

“My husband has done every inch of this garden himself without ever really having

been a garden type before we took it on,” Ms McLellan said.

“He envisioned it would be what he did with himself in his retirement, but now it is

just the two of us, we are going to downsize.”

“He has a room with his name on the door and he calls this house ‘my house’.

“I have promised him the next place will have a door with his name on it too.”
