A family faced with a life-or-death decision have finally had to give up their dream home.

A family faced with a life-or-death decision have finally had to give up their dream home.

The Young family bought the Kiama Downs home on NSW’s south coast in 2016 with the view to making a sea-change from their Sydney base and undertook a major renovation.

The five-bedroom home on an 828 sqm block includes a pool, gym and a studio with its own bathroom.

The Palm Springs-inspired home has water glimpses and is a short stroll from Jones Beach.

However a major health battle for dad Jase, 37, has meant the family had to consider selling the home to meet the costs for expensive medical treatment.

There were hopes a GoFundMe crowd-funding bid could help the family keep their home. But it seems that hasn’t happened as the sold sign has now gone up on the property.

According to real estate records, the home sold last week for $2.45m and while it’s devastating for the family to give up their dream home, hopefully the money made from the sale will go a long way towards paying for Jase’s medical treatment.

It sits in a fantastic south coast location.

Jase was diagnosed with a brain tumour six years ago and, after multiple surgeries, and recent complications from a respiratory illness, has been fighting for every breath. The father of three’s rare and complex breathing condition has perplexed local doctors and his family have had to turn to the Mayo Clinic in the United States for help.

“Jase has asked me to express how blown away he is with the generosity of you all,” was the last update offered on the GoFundMe page for organiser Kylie Nicol.

“It has literally been a life saver. The medical costs are Insane and are ongoing – medication, rehabilitation, speech pathology etc. He currently has close to 10 specialist looking after him due to his case being so complex. [Wife] Em has not been able to return to work as she has been caring for Jase and looking after their 3 young children.”
